Aligarh Muslim University Department of LawAdmission
Admission to the BA LLB (Hons) course is based on an All India Law Entrance Test conducted by the University. The test will contain objective type questions and short answer (descriptive) and it is held in the month of April. Students must have passed their HSC exam (10+2) or its equivalent. There are 100 seats for the BA LLB course.
Course Structure
Teaching Methodology - In addition to the classroom lectures, tutorial group discussions, assessment programs, practical training programs are held, where the students are attached in District Courts, High Courts and Supreme Courts. Organization of legal literacy programs in collaboration with other institutions like - Consumer Forum, Center of Adult Education etc.

ILS (Indian Law Society), Pune
Admission to the First Year of the 5-year Degree Programme commencing in July 2004 is on the basis of Merit. Application forms are available in the last week of May 2004 and the last date for submission of the same is June 15, 2004.
Eligibility for admission is as per the following, 10+2 School Examination or equivalent with not less than 83-84% for Students from outside Maharashtra & 76-78% for Students from Maharashtra). Students taking qualifying examination in March/April 2004 are also eligible to apply. There are a total of 240 seats.






Kishinchand Chellaram Law College (KC College of Law)

This college offers the 3-year LLB degree, but not the 5-year degree. The course starts in June. Eligibility is graduation. There are 320 seats and entry is based on merit. There is no entrance test. Notification comes out in May 2004 and applications in April 2004.





Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur
Eligibility - Students who have secured 50% aggregate marks in the 10+2 examination or its equivalent are eligible. Students who have not yet completed the qualifying exam as on July 1st of the year of admission are NOT eligible. The age limit is below 20 years of age as on July 1 of the year of admission. There are 80 seats of which 50% seats are reserved for students of Chhattisgarh state.
Admission test - Admission is on the basis of a National Entrance Test, which is held twice a year. The test aims at assessing linguistic ability, analytical skills, general knowledge, legal aptitude, legal reasoning and mathematical skills of applicants.
Application details - Application details are given in the official notification, which is released in the month of April.





Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar
The Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003, created the Gujarat National Law University in 2003. It has released its notification for the first year of instruction for its three 5 year integrated courses, BA LLB, BSc LLB and BCom LLB. 60 seats have been planned for each course. 15% reservation for SC, 7.5% for ST and 10% for residents of Gujarat.
Eligibility - 50% in 10+2 examination or its equivalent. Those appearing for the 2004 March/April exam are also eligible. The age limit is below 20 years as on July 1, 2004. The age limit for SC ST students is 22 years as on July 1, 2004.
Course Structure
GNLU offers 3 integrated 5-year programs, BA LLB (Hons), BSc LLB (Hons) and BCom LLB (Hons). The University has proposed to allot 60 seats for each course. But this may be altered depending on the size of the response of students to the admissions for the first batch. Each academic year will have two semesters, a total of 10 semesters for the whole program. Each five-year program will consist of 3 kinds of subjects, base level courses, compulsory professional legal courses and language courses.
College Infrastructure
The new projected GNLU campus will have all the facilities of a modern university. In addition to student accommodation students will also have access to personal lockers, a mess and University canteen, provisions for sports and games and even a health club and yoga center.





Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai

Admission is based on merit. A minimum of 45% marks in the HSC (10+2) exam at the first attempt is the eligibility required to be able to apply for admission. For students with more than 40% marks but less than 45% marks, the University may conduct a Common Eligibility Exam. The admission process for the first year of the Five-year course commences immediately after the declaration of HSC results. There is 50% reservation for Reserved Categories from Maharashtra state. The prospectus and admission form will be available at the college office. The Admission form, duly filled, is to be submitted to the college office within the prescribed time. And then, three merit lists are put up
• General category: students from Maharashtra State Board of Sec. and HSC exams.
• Reserved Category from Maharashtra
• General category: students from Boards other than Maharashtra. Students belonging to this category are required to have at least 5% more marks than students of the Maharashtra board.

Course Structure
The BLS LLB program is a 10-semester full time course. The first 2 years (4 semesters) constitute a 'pre-law' course where the student is taught social-science subjects like - Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Logic, History of Courts, etc. In the next three years the actual law subjects are dealt with - like torts, Contracts, Family law, Labour laws, Alternate dispute resolution and so on. In their 8th and 10th semester, the students have the option of choosing some particular subjects along with some compulsory subjects. A total of 4 practical training papers are compulsory for all the students.






Faculty of Law, Delhi University
The Delhi University Faculty of Law offers a three-year LLB course. Students applying for admission should have graduated with at least 55% marks. The course begins in August and admission procedures begin in July. Notification for admission is expected by the end of April. 15 % of the seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates. 5% seats are reserved for children/widows/wives of the officers and men of the armed forces including Para-military personnel killed/disabled in action or those who died/were disabled in action or those who died/were disabled on duty. 3% sets are reserved for physically handicapped candidates.
College Infrastructure
The Faculty has three Law Centers, the Campus Law Center I at Chhatra Marg (North Campus), the University of Delhi campus and Law Center II at Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi.
Library:
The Faculty of Law has a well-stocked library with many books, journals, theses, CD ROMs and tapes. Besides the main library, there are two separate libraries, one for Law Center I and one for Law Center II.




Christ College Of Law, Bangalore Christ College of Law, Bangalore is a part of Christ College, Bangalore that was founded and is administered by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate ("CMI"). Christ College is affiliated to Bangalore University, one of the largest State Universities in India. Within three decades, Christ College has become the most preferred educational institution in the city of Bangalore. Christ College has the rare distinction of being the first college in Karnataka to be accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), UGC for quality education. The Bar Council of India also recognizes Christ College of Law.

Admission to the First Year of the 5-year Programme is made on the basis of an interview, which is usually held in May-June. Eligibility: Students who have passed their 10+2 School Examination or equivalent with not less than 45% marks in the final examination. Age Limit: Below 25 years as on 1st July 2007.
Admission Procedure: Applications are to be collected from the college office. Applications can also be downloaded from the Christ College website. Applicants are allotted an interview schedule when collecting the application. Applicants who download the application forms are to call the college office and schedule an interview.
Course structure and Faculty
The curriculum for the course is a mix of social science subjects and legal subjects. In the first two years, students are taught History, Political Science, Sociology and Economics along with value added subjects, such as Legal Research Skills and Introduction to International Legal Systems and Introduction to Standard Legal Subjects. The current faculties at Christ College of Law are from the best international and national universities like the London School of Economics ("LSE"), Delhi University ("DU") and Jawaharlal Nehru University ("JNU"). The college also in the process of conceptualizing and constituting an advisory board consisting of eminent personalities in the legal fraternity to advice and fine-tune the curriculum to the needs of the industry.

Infrastructure
The Bangalore Urban Art Commission has selected the college for the Best Campus Award for four consecutive years, 1996 through 2000. Christ College library offers students an excellent selection of books and magazines on all subjects. The library provides photocopying facilities to the faculty and students. All administrative works of the college are computerized. The four computer labs are equipped with the latest Intel microprocessor-based computers. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
The Banaras Hindu University offers a 3-year L.L.B course and a 2-year L.L.M. course. Admission is by entrance test, which will be held in the month of May or June 2004. Application forms will be released in the month of February or March 2004. The Entrance Tests are held at the following centers in India - Varanasi, Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. BHU reserves the right to cancel any center except Varanasi without assigning any reason.

Amity Law School, Delhi
Amity Law School is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. Hence the Indraprastha University by means of a common entrance test conducts admission to the first year of the 5-year course. Application forms are normally released by end of end March, and the classes start by August.
Students who have completed their 10+2 School Examination or equivalent are eligible. Those giving the qualifying examination in March/April at the time of admission are also eligible to apply. There are a total of 80 seats.
College Infrastructure
Law College Library - The library cum reading room contains more than 12000 volumes of books, which includes books on journals, law reports and periodicals. The school is subscribing to more than 20 journals and law reports on a regular basis.
Computer Lab - The School has two computer labs with more than 50 computers with Internet facility and on-line legal research support for Grand Jurix and Law Commission of India Reports.






NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad
Admission to the First Year of the 5-year BA BL (Hons) Degree Program is made strictly on merit on the basis of an All India Entrance Test. To be eligible for admission, the student should have passed the Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent recognized by the University, and should have secured 50 percent marks and younger than 20 years of age (22 years in case of SC/ST candidates). The number of students to be admitted on the basis of entrance test shall be SIXTY with the following reservations 20 seats are separately allotted for Foreign Nationals on Direct Admission basis on the basis of prescribed academic qualification and an interview.
Course Structure
NALSAR offers, at the graduate level, a five-year BA BL (Hons) degree program. Each year consists of two semesters: mid-June to October end and January to April. The placement program is conducted for a period of 6 weeks from November first week. The course in total has 10 semesters with 5 courses each in every semester. To be awarded the degree the student has to pass all the prescribed and optional courses totaling fifty (50) within a maximum period of seven (7) years. The course is a nice blend of social sciences and law subjects for the first two years (i.e. 4 semesters). Social sciences include two papers each in history, economics, sociology and political science. There are two papers in English as well. The end of 4 semesters along with 10 law papers, which includes legal methods, and law of torts complete the papers in social sciences and English in the first semester. Over the next 3 semesters (i.e. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) 2 papers each on law of contracts, family law, criminal law and a paper each on property law and law & poverty are completed.



NLIU (National Law Institute University), Bhopal Admission Admission to the BA LLB (Hons.) course is based on an All India Entrance Test conducted each year. Eligibility - Students with 55% or more in the 10+2 or its equivalent are eligible for admission. In the case of SC/ST/OBC the minimum percentage for eligibility is 45%. The age limit for admission is 21 years. For reserved categories a relaxation of two years on the age limit is permitted.
The admission test is normally held on the 3rd Sunday of May. The exact date will be released through the official admission notification. The level of questioning of the admission test is 10+2. The test will consist of questions covering English, analytical reasoning, verbal reasoning, legal reasoning, legal aptitude and general knowledge.
Course Structure
The National Law Institute University offers an integrated academic 5-year BA LLB (Hons.) program. There are 80 seats for this course. 50% of the seats are reserved for students from Madhya Pradesh and the remaining are for students from all over India. A total of 63 compulsory subjects (credit and non-credit) are offered to the students. Out of the 17 seminar papers offered, students must select 10 for their elective specializations. Some of the various papers offered are Feminist Jurisprudence, Health Law, Affirmative Law, Information Technology Law and Space Law.

Course Structure
The BA, LLB (Hons) course, though available presently in various other universities around India, saw its inception at NLSIU. Such an integrated course was conceived of with an objective to bring legal education on par with other professional courses like medicine and engineering, where a student fresh out of high-school can make an immediate career choice. The course is of 5 years duration. The faculty teaching at NLS is selected from among the best available in their respective fields and the reputation of the university itself attracts the best faculty from all over India. Visiting faculty includes eminent names from all over India and the world. Ram Jethmalani, JS Verma, Kaushik Basu, Michael Kirby; these are just a few of the eminent personalities who have graced the NLS visiting faculty list. Apart from the regular courses that constitute the compulsory curriculum, there are also offered from time to time, optional single credit courses.
College Infrastructure
For those who favour physical exercise, NLSIU offers fairly decent sporting facilities. A football field, a basketball court, two volleyball/throw ball courts, a clay tennis court are some of the sporting facilities available on campus. The computer room used to be referred to as the A/C room because of the fact that the only thing that functioned properly in it were the air-conditioners, but all that has changed with the full revamp of the computer lab carried out in November 2001.
The NLSIU Library has also established links with other important libraries in and around Bangalore in order to provide inter-library access for the benefit of students and teachers of the NLSIU. There is one main academic block (referred to as acad. block or ad. block) which houses all the classrooms, the libraries, the computer room and the faculty chambers, along with all the various centers that NLSIU runs like CCL (Center for Child and the Law), TILEM (The Institute for Legal Ethics and Medicine), and NIHR (National Institute of Human Rights). NLU (National Law University), Jodhpur
Eligibility - 10+2 School Examination or equivalent with not less than 50% marks (Students taking qualifying examination in March/April 2004 are also eligible to apply). Students applying for one of the four new courses offered, (BSc LLB Enviro/BSc LLB Bio Tech/BSc LLB IT/BTech LLB) should have taken science in 10+2. NUJS Kolkata (West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences)
Admission to the First Year of the 5-year Program is made strictly on merit on the basis of an All India Entrance Test, usually held in January.
Course Structure
NUJS offers two integrated five- year courses, a BA, LLB (Hons) degree course and a BSc LLB (Hons) degree course. Admission to the university is through a nationally conducted admission test that is conducted in different cities usually on the last Sunday of January every year. To be eligible for admission students must have completed 10 + 2 level or equivalent school education with at least 50 per cent marks and should be below the age of 21 years on the 31st December. Students who are currently preparing for their twelfth- standard school examination on the year of admission can also appear in the test. Every year is 80 students are admitted into the university. Out of these, 10 seats are reserved for SC /ST and disabled students and 10 seats are reserved for foreign/ NRI students. The annual tuition fee is Rs 35000.
The post-graduate courses offered by the University include a two-year LLM Degree, a research-based one-year MPhil Degree and PhD/ LLB programmes.
College Infrastructure
Library - NUJS has a well-developed library with books and periodicals covering a variety of disciplines including law, social sciences and humanities. The library is also developing a computer section where students will be allowed access to the Internet. The different schools have their own libraries that contain collections in their respective specialized area of law. The University also has a Legal Services Clinic that is headed by retired District Judge functions in the University. It provides programmes for clinical education of students. It also offers a variety of legal services as well.










Symbiosis Society's Law College, Pune
Admission to the BA LLB and BBA LLB courses is based on an All India Law Entrance Test. The test is out of 150 marks and will contain objective type questions covering General Awareness of Law, Ability of Reasoning, Logic and Aptitude, Social Sciences, General English and General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Successful candidates must then appear for an interview. Students must have passed their HSC exam (10+2) or its equivalent with at least 55% marks. There are 80 seats for the BA LLB course and 240 seats for the BBA LLB course. Of the above seats, 15% is reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates, 15% for sponsored candidates, 2% for physically handicapped and 5% for serving or retired defense personnel or their children.

Symbiosis conducts two 5 year integrated law courses a BA LLB course covering arts subjects with law and the second is a BBA LLB course, which covers management and business subjects with law.
College Infrastructure
The library contains a large collection of books, journals, periodicals, magazines, digests and reports. The computer lab at symbiosis was launched in July 2003 and is well equipped with 30 computers with the latest configurations. There is a health club where students can make use of the gymnasium or learn aerobics or yoga from trained personnel. The health care center provides students with medical care and also provides each student with medical insurance.






The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai
School of Excellence offer BA BL (Hons), 3 Yr BL, 5 Yr BL, ML, PGD in Insurance Law by Distance education, By evening session PGDBL, PGDIT, PGDIPL, PGDEL. Admission to the first year of the 5 year BA BL (Hons) course is based on an entrance test. Students who have passed their 10+2 examination or its equivalent with no less than 60% are eligible for admission. The test is of 2 hours duration carrying 100 marks and consist of objective type questions 80 marks and essay writing 20 marks. One-fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Total no. Of available seats are 44, which include 4 seats in NRI Quota. The age limit for admission is 20 years for general and 22 years for SC/ST category.
Course Structure
Each academic year is divided into 2 semesters of 90 working days. In total there are 10 semesters. Seminars, Symposiums and Workshops are part of the curricula. The chosen topics will help in developing the lawyering skills of the students and inculcate a spirit of research in the study of law. Assignments have to be regularly submitted by the students for which marks will be awarded. Exposure to courtroom practice is possible by participation in Moot Courts organized by the University. 80% attendance in each semester is necessary to take the exam.

University Law College, Bangalore Admission to ULC is based on merit; there is no entrance test. The 2004 course begins after June. There are a total of only 4 or 5 seats available to candidates from outside Karnataka while there are 50 seats for those from Karnataka. Notification comes out at the end of May 2004. Applications come out end of May and beginning of June 2004.
